Mark Sladen Appointed as ICA Director of Exhibitions
The ICA announced that Mark Sladen has been appointed as the new full time Director of Exhibitions.

In Sladen, the ICA has selected one of Britain's leading curators to develop a bold, imaginative exhibition programme for its future.

Mark Sladen comes to the ICA from the Barbican Art Gallery in London where he is currently Senior Curator and has been responsible for such notable shows as The Americans (2001-02), Witness (2003), Helen Chadwick (2004) and Folk Archive (2005).

Sladen has consistently supported artists at breakthrough points in their careers, and has also been a champion of photography and design.

His exhibitions at the Barbican in 2006 included an ambitious commission from the Argentinian artist-architect Tomas Saraceno, as well as In the Face of History, a major survey of European documentary photography in the 20th century, co-curated with Kate Bush.

This year Sladen has also been responsible for Momentum, a biennial of contemporary art held in Norway, featuring the work of 31 artists from Northern Europe and co-curated with Annette Kierulf.
