The Odegard Award for Excellence in Rug Design acknowledges outstanding achievement in the field of original, hand rendered rug design.

The award recognizes how combining pioneering designs with hand-weaving and hand knotting technologies can invigorate the contemporary market while developing increased awareness and respect for the legacy of the centuries-old art of textile weaving.

Applicants are encouraged to offer designs with inspiration that exemplify and reflect the spirit of this mission by unifying marketability and visionary aesthetic with traditional weaving methods.

Applicants are judged on the merits of artistic execution, originality of their design vision, and use of natural materials.

Deadline for entries is March 15, 2007.
