The Sixth International South Sea Pearl Jewellery Design Competition successfully culminated in the announcement of the winners during a glamorous prize presentation held at The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on March 6,2007.
Organised by the South Sea Pearl Consortium (SSPC), and sponsored by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the biennial competition was conceived to give jewellery designers an opportunity to showcase their creativity, as well as to promote innovation in the design of jewellery pieces that incorporates South Sea pearl's innate beauty.
During the Prize Presentation ceremony, Mr. Erol Sagmanli, Chairman and Ms. Filiz Vural, Chief Designer received their awards on behalf of URART from Ms. Sharon Chan of Christie's Hong Kong.
The prize went to URART of Istanbul, Turkey, for its entry entitled "The Henna" - a design from their current jewellery collection "Anatolian Colours and Silhouettes" - using 18 ct gold, white and black diamonds, as well as a 16 mm Golden South Sea pearl.
