Deniz Marlali, 26, a graphic designer from Istanbul currently living in New York City, was selected from a highly competitive field of her peers to re-design the corporate identity of BrooklynFest, an annual event dedicated to discovering, exposing and promoting independent filmmakers which has been organized by the Brooklyn International Film Festival (BiFF) since 1997.
As BrooklynFest 2007 marked BiFF's tenth anniversary, the organization wished to update and refine its corporate identity in celebration of that milestone.
Deniz Marlali's winning concept featured intersecting "o's" which represent the global and independent film communities and evoke the reels used to project a film.
Deniz paired the "o's" with "BKLYN," an abbreviation of "Brooklyn," to create a fresh and modern icon.
The new logo is featured prominently on BiFF's Web site and in their marketing materials.
