On October 1st to 7th, 2007, Dalhousie University School of Architecture and NSCAD University will host the world's leading experts in architecture, interactive systems and digital tools at the ACADIA 2007: Expanding Bodies international conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Presented by the Association for Computer-Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA) and the Canadian Design Research Network (CDRN), the conference focuses on "expanding physical boundaries and bodies of knowledge".

Leading architects, engineers, artists, planners and researchers will explore the ways in which digital sensing, interactive, and responsive systems can open up new possibilities in art, architecture, and urban design.

The event will feature international and local exhibitions, symposia, competition awards, and keynote lectures by world-renown speakers such as Kevin Hydes, Chair of the World Green Building Council, and Roy Ascott, founding president of the Planetary Collegium at the University of Plymouth.

The CDRN will kick off the event with three days of interactive workshops.

"Activated Ceramics" will explore the fusion of innovative digital technologies with the traditional craft of ceramics and masonry.
