Theoretically, all fashion followers should be well versed in the Fall/Winter 2007 trends by now.
The shows were months ago, every fashion publication has had time to write about them, "it pieces" have been photographed for magazine editorials, even the local paper has printed some sort of feature by now.
Yes, theoretically we should all be able to converse in depth about each trend and how they relate to the zeitgeist or at least spot non-fashion elements and comment about how "on-trend" they are.
But how many of us really have more than a vague understanding of each trend?
To shed some light on the subject and perhaps enlighten us with some cutting edge knowledge we turned to one of the most "on trend" outlets possible, Dover Street Market - the self proclaimed antithesis of the slick designer superstore.
It was DSM's creative director Rei Kawakubo, designer of Comme des Garcon that wanted a place "where various creators from various fields gather together and encounter each other in an ongoing atmosphere of beautiful chaos".
It is here that trend seeds are planted. With a reputation of beating trends to the punch, DSM is the place to start our education.
