Planet Propaganda's designs for American Players Theatre (APT) is one of only 30 featured case studies profiled in Design Evolution: A Handbook of Basic Design Principles Applied in Contemporary Design.
Authored by Tim Samara, the book is scheduled for release from Rockport Publishing in this month.
Showcasing Planet's work with APT's 2006 theatrical season, the book highlights real-world projects from design brief through sketches and revisions to the final project solution.
Enticing audiences to APT's 2006 performances on the outdoor stage, Planet designed and illustrated APT's pre-season poster and its complementary Book of Summer, a 24-page, 6x9-inch program preview and keepsake.
Both poster and program feature woodcut illustrations by Planet's Curtis Jinkins, who also served as lead designer on the project.
Capturing the interplay of Mother Nature and human nature, the hand-wrought artwork, ornamental borders and type treatment are presented in warm, textured colors to resemble the tactile character of screenprinting.
Planet Propaganda has contributed nearly 20 years of creativity and strategic thinking to help securely position APT as part of an essential, summer experience.
