Australian designers are hoping to make further inroads into the newest booming Asian market with several Chinese buyers arriving for Australian Fashion Week in Sydney.

Austrade senior export adviser Lucy Coward said Australian fashion was making its presence felt in China but there was still a long way to go.

"The good news is buyers from the Guangxi Dream Island Group, consisting of eight high-end department stores in China, are eager to learn more through visits to Australia and will attend Rosemount Australian Fashion Week in Sydney next week," Ms Coward said.

"This is an exciting opportunity for our designers as these buyers could attend any high profile fashion event in the world and yet, they have chosen to come to Australia," she said in a statement.
