The second edition of the Berlin design week takes on a demanding theme this year: explaining how the architectural landscape in Eastern European countries changes with their official entry into the European Union.
Who would have expected such a great and positive response to our first ever DESIGNMAI in 2003? And who would have expected a repeat event only the following year? Between 6th - 16th of May 2004 Berlin will again attract design aficionados from all over the world with a huge variety of design events. This year, there will be more than 130 exhibitions, discussions, talks and other events - organised by the individual participants and DESIGNMAI's founding organisation Transform-Berlin e.V.
The sum of all DESIGNMAI events provides a vibrant overview of contemporary design: from international trends to the microcosm of Berlin's current design scene. In this, the festival's inimitable profile rests on precisely these small contributions which highlight the cultural aspect of design, consistently refuting the cliché of superficiality and always testing and redefining the boundaries of what design stands for.
