New Generation Ford Focus Design

New Generation Ford Focus Design
Officially, the concept car was designed with the Chinese market specifically in mind. But underneath its huge front and rear bumpers is the four-door version of the new Focus, which is due to be launched in Europe in spring next year.

The concept car was designed at Ford's European design HQ in Cologne and, as well as the sporty bumpers, features massive 19-inch alloys with ultra-low profile rubber and novel LED headlamps and rear lights.

The concept's distinctive front and rear lamps were developed in conjunction with OsramOpto semi-conductors and use the latest LED technology. When lit, the high output head, fog and tail lamps appear as a continuous ring of white light.

None of these features are likely to appear on initial European production versions of the new Focus saloon. But given Ford's new-found enthusiasmfor ST and RS sports models, the Focus Concept could give some clues to the styling of a high performance, sports saloon version which could compete with premiummodels from the likes of BMW and Audi in the future.

"The design progression is a confident and natural evolution of the Ford Focus brand," says Chris Bird, design director for Ford of Europe.

"The four-door Focus Concept gives further clues to how we are maturing Focus in line with evolving customer tastes and expectations.
