Animation In With Students
Some rather unusual courses are becoming popular among students aspiring for higher education in the United Kingdom.

At the British Council's pre-departure gathering held here on Wednesday, apart from the usual number of candidates for MBA and Masters in Information Technology programmes, a good number of students seemed keen to study subjects as diverse as applied sciences and fashion designing. Attribute it to the US' stringent visa procedures or more awareness among people here, off-beat subjects seemed the popular choice.

Bhakti Reddy, for instance, is taking up a course in 'access to fashion business' at the London College of Fashion. Having completed a three-year fashion designing programme from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Reddy said although she, like other NIFT graduates, had job offers, she was keen to study the business of fashion. "Also, I know of a person who took up this programme and is doing really well." Maitreyi Rajdar, a physiotherapist, is looking forward to studying sports physiotherapy at Sheffield Hallam University. A graduate from Sushruta Institute of Physiotherapy, Rajdar decided to apply to the UK as the "visas to the US have run dry".
