Vancouver 2010 Logo Design Competition Attracts More Than One Hundred Entries
With less than two weeks until the closing date for submissions to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Emblem Design Competition, VANOC officials say they have already received more than 100 entries.

John Furlong, chief executive officer of VANOC said, "the look of the Games starts with the emblem. Once we have a logo that will depict the theme of Canada's 2010 Winter Games, we will develop our own unique design to create an electric atmosphere for athletes and spectators throughout our Games host region".

The design competition is open to Canadian designers, creative professionals and design students.

An international nine-member panel of judges includes people with experience in the areas of art, design and branding.

Deadline for submissions is September 15, 2004.

There is one prize to be awarded to the entrant whose design is chosen as the emblem. It's $25, 000 (Can.) and two tickets to the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Games scheduled to take place on February 12, 2010.

All design submissions must be received at VANOC no later than 18:00 hours Pacific Time on Wednesday September 15, 2004.

The new logo will be unveiled in early 2005.
