Fashion mogul Tommy Hilfiger has teamed up with CBS network to introduce new reality series focused on bringing up new design talent. The series, tentatively entitled “The Cut,” will feature 16 up and coming designers competing for a chance to design a collection under Tommy Hilfiger’s label.
The contestants will test their skills in talent, business, sales and marketing competitions, featured in 13 episodes of CBS midseason series. The style council, comprised of art, fashion and entertainment experts and Hilfiger, the series host, will eliminate one contestant each week.
"The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it's possible to achieve the American dream," reads Hilfiger’s statement. "'The Cut' is going to give someone the opportunity of a lifetime and help that person achieve his or her dreams."
"We think the world that we are placing this in is inherently telegenic," said president of programming and production at Lions Gate Television, which is producing the series with Pilgrim Films and Television Kevin Beggs.
"It cries out to be on television -- it's full of beautiful and interesting people, and it shows a world that most of us never really traffic in."
