Alias today announced that it has updated its StudioTools 12, ImageStudio 2 and Portfolio Wall 2 design tools and announced a November 2004 ship date.
In development for about a year, this is the first major design software release from Alias since its independence from SGI.
The company said that the new releases will help to accelerate the design process, and has enhanced the applications concept design, model evaluation, design review, and production modeling capabilities.
StudioTools 12
Alias has added new features and enhancements to accelerate the design process in StudioTools 12, including a new flange tool that create a single surface flange across multiple surfaces; a peak radius fillet tool to create a transition surface that satisfies whatever radius requirements the designer has; new real-time visualization features; and visual collaboration features.
Alias ImageStudio 2
The company's rendering application, ImageStudio 2 has been enhanced with a faster rendering engine, giving designers a faster means of transferring the 3D models built into StudioTools or CAD software into more sophisticated imagery.
Alias PortfolioWall 2 is the company's visual collaboration application that gives design teams and those involved in the approval process the capability to view compare, and annotate 2D and 3D visual assets. PortfolioWall 2 is almost like a digital whiteboard, Bennett said. It gives you instant access to all your visual assets in a project, enabling teams to make decisions based on visual data.
