Design finalized for Kiwanis Park

Design finalized for Kiwanis Park
The city has completed a final design for the renovation of Kiwanis Park, and the contractor revamping the Palace Theater will begin work on the tiny downtown park soon.

"The organizations have put a ton of money into the buildings in the area adjacent to the park, and we want to make sure it looks attractive," said Tim Curtin, director of operations.

The .16-acre park has been used as a construction staging area during the renovation of the Palace Theater on Atlantic Street, which is scheduled to be completed by October.

The city agreed to the arrangement provided the Stamford Center for the Arts, which operates the Palace, spends $300,000 to restore the park.

City officials met last week with the contractor, Frank Mercede & Son Inc., and agreed on the final design and cost of the work, Curtin said.
