James Bond might have had X-ray sunglasses, but did his shades offer the right tune?
The latest release Oakley sunglasses come with an MP3 music player built into its arms.
First there was the Walkman, then the Discman, then the mini-disc player, then the MP3.
Now, it appears the Thump is about to take over. Flick down the ear-pieces, press play and it is music directly to your ears.
Selling for $649, the Thump can store about 45 songs -- and it blocks out UV rays.
The gadget is expected to be a huge hit with young men.
A meatier version, which holds 60 songs, will cost $749. Songs can be loaded on to the sunglasses directly from a computer or iPod.
The glasses weigh only about 55 grams and are not cumbersome to wear.
They have a six-hour battery life and are recharged by plugging them into a wall socket.
Tom O'Dwyer, 19, pictured wearing the first pair of the glasses to arrive in Australia, expected the Thump to be a must-have among his friends.
"I could definitely see myself snowboarding in these, hanging out at the beach or jogging," he said.
The arms of the sunglasses feature buttons which control the volume of the music and change the track number.
Released in the US and Britain a month ago, they will be on sale in Australia by Christmas.
