Philip Treacy to Design Camillas Hat for Royal Wedding
Camilla Parker Bowles' choice of world-famous designer Philip Treacy to design her hat for the royal wedding with Prince Charles is just one of many high profile jobs for the Irish-born hat designer.

"I am delighted and honoured," said Treacy, 37, who has designed hats for Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel.

When growing up across the road from the church in the village of Ahascragh in western Ireland, Treacy began learning his craft.

"As a small child, I loved to watch the weddings there. They were the equivalent of a fashion show to me," he says on his website.

He has done several high-profile jobs since he graduated with a first-class masters degree in fashion design from the Royal College of Art in London in 1990.

A year later he started designing hats for Chanel and also won his first British Fashion Council award as the British accessory designer of the year and has since won another four.

In 1992 he started designing hats for the high street as he believes "hats are for everyone. We all have a head so we have the possibility to wear a hat."

He staged his first fashion show during London Fashion Week in 1993, where supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss all modelled for free hats.

In 2000 Treacy held the first ever Haute Couture show in Paris devoted to hats.
