Celebrities Design Charity Pictures
Hollywood star Richard Gere and Brit artist Tracey Emin are among 30 celebrities who have designed "works of heart" to help sick children.

Christian Slater, Ricky Gervais, Joanna Lumley, Ulrika Jonsson and Sir Richard Branson have also created heart-themed pictures to be sold in aid of heart surgery charity Chain of Hope.

Gere's piece, designed with his young son Homer, shows a large pink heart with three smaller red hearts on it.

Both have signed the work, Gere Senior in a somewhat more steady hand.

Emin's heart is a line drawing entitled "Redundant Vargina" (sic), which appears to show a pair of legs.

The Office star Gervais has drawn a simple heart pierced by an arrow.

The works will be sold at auction in London to raise cash for heart surgery for children across the developing world.

Pioneering heart surgeon Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub, the founder of Chain of Hope, said: "It is an honour to have so many of Britain's major creative talents contributing to the event.

"Their generous support gives a huge boost to the charity's work in 2005."
