Cannon to Design Olympic Venue
Cannon Design has been retained by the Vancouver Olympic Games Organizing Committee to serve as the prime architectural consultant on the main speed skating oval that will be used in the 2010 winter Olympic Games.

The 109,000-square-foo t oval is the centerpiece of a $155 million complex that will overlook the waterfront in Richmond, B.C. near Vancouver.

The oval is slated to be completed by 2007.

"The Richmond Olympic Oval will combine dramatic design with functionality and provide a lasting legacy for the entire community," said Robert Johnston, Cannon principal who is in charge of the project.

The Grand Island-based Cannon is the region's largest architecture and engineering firm. The company has 14 offices throughout North America.
