
The department of Industrial Technology of the High School of Utrecht 'Hogeschool Utrecht' in the Netherlands have decided to implement File-Reg International's IP online registration service as an experiment to help combat the growing trend in Intellectual Property theft among students.
The system will also help students become aware of IP protection and help give them more insight into the subject when finish their studies and enter the job market.
The registration system, which is free for students, is designed to irrefutably prove 'who' thought up 'what' and exactly 'when' and used to trace the origin of work generated by the students during their study.
Concepts, drawings, designs, calculations, modules, R&D etc can all be registered at the push of a button.
There is no limit to the amount of registrations that can be made and no limit to the size or file format they wish to register.
The school, with more then 30,000 students will first be tested with 2000 students studying Media Technology & Information Engineering.
The File-Reg system provides proof of evidence but does not imply Patent or Trademark registration.
One of the benefits of File-Reg is that users can legally prove they have actually carried out the research and development in developing a product.
