Chameleon by Cassandra Complex P/L

Chameleon by Cassandra Complex PL
This project was conceived as an expression of the clients position in society and personal life.

The client is the partner of the architect.

The architect wanted a brief from the client rather than an open slather.

A warehouse shell was purchased and the client expressed his persona as a "Chameleon", hence the name of the project.

The chameleon would be expressed via reptilian patterned tiles creeping over a glass walled enclosure.

The glass enclosure was also inspired by the original role of the warehouse which was the Allens Sweets Factory.

A giant glowing sweet became the screen for the chameleon.

Other modes of expression of the clients brief were the laminex fusion customised image of himself at a 5 year olds birthday party, and warm colours, cushioned surfaces and a place to hang his hammock.

The volume of the warehouse space was maintained as objects grew and sat within it.

The use of mirrors trianglulates the space and creates other worlds where one would only of imagined one.

Compression and release spin the inhabitant through the space spiralling up to a roof deck where the pressure is released.

Up there you will find the good Aussie backyard alternative of spa bbq and hose.
