Hamburg Hotel and Brewery by David Chipperfield Architects

Hamburg Hotel and Brewery by David Chipperfield Architects
The practice won a competition to design a five star hotel and brewery in Hamburg-St. Pauli.

The invited competition was part of a 110,000 meter square housing and office development on the former Bavaria brewery grounds.

Twenty five internationally renowned architects were invite to participate, competing on five different sites.

The proposed eighteen storey hotel tower and brewery building complex consists of different staggered volumes.

The height of each volume corresponds with the eaves of the surrounding buildings, thus mediating between the diverse structures which define the urban context.

The project will be completed in 2006.
