Looking for something more inspiring then the somewhat over commercialized minimalism of Starck, Eames and Van Der Rohe?
Then it's time to check out Christophe Pillet (one of France's top young designers) for a new kind of elegant simplicity.
Even though his name is just a murmur this side of the pond, Europeans are screaming "Pillet" for his beautiful architecture, furniture design and interiors such as the Hotel Sezz in Paris.
Pillet apprenticed for Philippe Starck, where he developed his graceful minimalism, but in adding a futuristic bent (see his kitchen appliances project) he's managed to step from beneath his master's shadow.
Pillet's products are hard to get Stateside, but Design Within Reach carries his deceivingly uncomplicated Tripod Lamp with its perfect proportions and flawlessly hidden cord.
