Four seniors from the Transportation Department at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit are getting the exhibition opportunity of a lifetime January 8-22, 2006 when their work joins international vehicle designs from 19 countries selected for the Michelin Challenge Design display at the 2006 North American International Auto Show.
For the last five years, the CCS competition theme has mirrored Michelin's global design competition, Michelin Challenge Design.
This year the competition was based on vehicle designs the students could realistically envision driving in California in the year 2015 and included a tire and wheel assembly based on one of four Michelin technologies: PAX System, Tweel, Airless or Active Wheel assemblies.
"At Michelin, we look at creativity, innovation and advancing design in everything we do," said Tom Chubb, vice president of marketing for Michelin Automotive Industry Division.
"We want to encourage young designers to challenge every barrier, limit or premise.
Sponsoring programs like the CCS student competition and Michelin Challenge Design let us do just that."
