Garden furniture is not always comfortable and comfortable chairs are rarely weather-resistant, but this new Thonet chair combines high standards of comfort and durability.

The design pioneer Thonet displays a new version of its classic S 43 cantilever chair, incorporating a weatherproof Belmadur Beech seat and backrest and a frame made of stainless steel, for the first time at the IMM trade fair in Cologne.

The wooden seat and backrest are anatomically shaped and offer a high standard of comfort in combination with the flexible metal frame.

Classical design meets innovative chemistry and for the first time a chair made of beech wood can be used outdoor as well.

Seventy-five years ago, the designer Mart Stam had the idea of constructing a chair that would be like sitting on an "elastic column of air".

It offers enhanced comfort, unlike conventional wooden slats, the large seat area does not leave any impressions on the skin, and wood is a natural material that always feels warm - advantageous also for chairs in coffee shops and garden chairs at home.
