The Road Ahead: Concept Car Shows in London and Ingolstadt

The Road Ahead Concept Car Shows in London and Ingolstadt
A show of concept cars will take place at the Dray Walk Gallery, London, February 11-19.

Designs from independent consultancies will be on display "from a host of emerging, alternative and iconic studios".

The event, called The Road Ahead and developed in partnership with Intersection magazine, will also launch a project to promote the new PSP PlayStation Portable, with six free downloads of short films.

These include documentaries on the Fenomenon Stratus, the Courreges EXE and Bulle show cars, the Z-Car designed by architect Zaha Hadid and aerodynamics / hydrodynamics expert Professor Luigi Colani.

On display at the gallery (in the Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, east London) will be Dominique Mottas's Rolling Bird concept bike with hubless, spokeless wheels, designs by Colani and the cars featured in the short films.

Intersection is to display the winners of its design competition, in which a number of independent car designers submitted their proposals for "the luxury car of tomorrow".

Images and computer renderings of these will be shown for the first time at the event, entries including cars from Italian coachbuilders Castagna (creators of bespoke-build Minis), Fenomenon (revivers of the Lancia Stratos), Syd Mead (designer of the vehicles for films such as Blade Runner, Aliens and Star Trek),
