Design Powers Hyundai Motor

Design Powers Hyundai Motor
Hyundai Motor has increased its number of designers by more than 200 percent over the past five years to more than 500 as part of moves to strengthen its design power.

Since its establishment of a design unit in 1977, Hyundai Motor has carried through plans to help transform South Korea into the major design powerhouse in the world as well as being a leader in automobile designs.

Over the past several years, few of the world's carmakers have grown as fast as Hyundai Motor.

Much of that success stems from the company's campaign to boost the quality of its vehicles, which has lifted Hyundai to the top ranks of auto makers in customer satisfaction.

About 100 of the 500 Hyundai Motor designers are working in Europe and the United States to tailor cars for Western tastes.

Since 2001, the largest carmaker in Korea has invested more than $200 million in design and testing facilities throughout North America.

A $25 million state-of-the-art facility will house 150 auto designers, engineers, model makers and technicians, many of whom were responsible for design successes such as the Santa Fe sport utility vehicle, and the HCD 6 concept vehicle.
