Daniel Huber, Austrian designer and co-founder of Spirit Design, received the red dot: best of the best for his "All Mountain Cruise" alpine ski model, whose use of forms follows the aesthetics of sports utility vehicles (SUVs).
Daniel Huber talked to red dot about the dynamics of aesthetics and form:
"Design in its aesthetic function to define form must trigger some kind of response in people.
This is where its dynamics lie.
The aim of the Fischer AMC All Mountain Cruise model alpine skis was to emotionally connect with a specific target group - in this case male skiers with sports ambition.
This is where the product design proves its crucial role for sales success: design is the strongest influence among all deciding factors to buy a product.
The Fischer AMC crossover model offers good manoeuvring characteristics for both prepared and deep-snow slopes.
Thus, the look of the skis plays with elements from the design of modern all-terrain vehicles, which are fit for both road and off-road uses.
These associations as well as both the bold language of form and the innovative metallic effects are not an aesthetic end in itself, but instead show a clear direction: from the product shelf to the counter - and off into the mountains!"
