Greenbridge Opens Project Design Center

Greenbridge Opens Project Design Center
Greenbridge Developments opened its design center Wednesday in Rosemary Village, 400 W. Rosemary St.

Greenbridge is a planned mixed-use development slated for the corner of Graham and West Rosemary streets.

The development will incorporate principles of sustainable design, such as solar-heated water, windows angled to maximize daylight and a vegetated roof.

William McDonough, the internationally known architect whose firm is designing the development, attended Wednesday's opening celebration.

His firm designed an eco-friendly 195,000-square-foot corporate campus for Gap Inc. in San Bruno, Calif., covered 10 acres of rooftop with vegetation at a Ford Motor Co. plant in Dearborn, Mich., and has been hired to design seven entirely new cities in China.

Firehouse Subs has opened at 157 E. Franklin St. It's the first Orange County location of the Jacksonville, Fla.-based chain, which serves up hot subs with steamed meat and cheese.

"When you steam anything it becomes moist and brings out all the flavor," said Atul Patel, the restaurant's owner.
